SYDNEY,Jan.14(Xinhua)--ChildrenintheUnitedStatesarebeinginfluencedbygunviolencedepictedinmediaandeasyaccesstofirearmsintheirhomes,whichexplainedthetragedyofafirst-gradershootinghisteacherinVirginia,accordingtoananalysispublishedThursday.

InanarticlereleasedbythemedianetworktheConversation,BradBushman,professorfromtheOhioStateUniversity,andDanRomer,researchdirectorfromtheUniversityofPennsylvania,elaboratedonthefactorsregardinghowachildintheUnitedStatesbecomesashooter,aftera6-year-oldboyshotateacheratRichneckElementarySchoolinVirginialastweek.

ThescholarssaidactsofgunviolenceinPG-13movieshavenearlytripledinthe30yearssincetheratingwasintroducedin1984,whileanother2019surveyofadultsfurthershowedthat12percentsaidtheywereallowedtowatchPG-13moviesbetweentheagesofsixandnine,with6percentsayingtheywatchedsuchfilmsatanevenyoungerage.

Violentmediacanleadchildrentoengageinmoredangerousbehavioriftheyfindarealgunanddesensitizeornumbchildrentoviolence,increasingthepossibilityofthemimitatingtheaggressivebehaviorstheywatchandconsideringsuchbehaviorasnormal,theywarned.
