Inrecentyears,LamiannoodleshavebecomeacallingcardandimportantindustryinnorthwestChina,includingtheprovincesofQinghaiandGansu.

InQinghai,thereare199,500peopleengagedintheLamiannoodlesindustry,whilemorethan35,000LanzhoubeefLamiannoodlesrestaurantshavebeensetupinGansuandmanyotherregionsnationwide,creatingjobsforover600,000peopleandgeneratinganannualturnoverofabout65billionyuan(about9.47billionU.S.dollars).

ThesuccessfuldevelopmentoftheLamiannoodlesindustryhashelpedpeopleblazeapathofpovertyalleviationandprosperity.SincethelaunchoftheBeltandRoadInitiative,morenoodlesmakershavepursuednewbusinessopportunitiesinBeltandRoadcountriesandregions,sharingthisChineseflavorwithmorepeopleworldwide.

In2003,MaFanglinfromHaidongwentwithherfamilytoLanzhou,capitalofGansuProvince,toruntheirfirstLamiannoodlesrestaurant.Overthenext20years,theyopenedmorerestaurantoutletsintheChinesecitiesofXi"anandChangsha,andnowherhusbandrunsoneinKualaLumpur,Malaysia.

"WeopenedtheLamiannoodlesrestaurantinKualaLumpurin2016anditssizeismorethan200squaremeters.Itsturnoverpermonthisaround200,000yuan,"saidMa."Localpeoplehaveadietaryhabitsimilartoours,whilewehavealsodevelopedinnovativedishestosuitthelocalcustomsthere."

YeXiaolong,a34-year-oldnativeofHaidong,openedaLamiannoodlesrestaurantinSihanoukville,Cambodia,in2019."AbowlofLamiannoodlesonlycosts5U.S.dollarshere.It"sverypopularamonglocalsbecauseofitsaffordablepriceandgoodtaste,"saidYe,whohasthreeCambodianemployees.
